The present study investigated whether head injuries in childhood might increase the risk of pedophilia in males. The subjects were 1206 patients referred to a clinical sexology service for assessment of their erotic preferences. These were classified, on the basis of phallometric test results, as pedophilic (n = 413) or nonpedophilic (n = 793). Information regarding early head injuries, other signs of possible neurodevelopmental problems, and parental histories of psychiatric treatment were…
Self-Reported Head Injuries Before and After Age 13 in Pedophilic and Nonpedophilic Men Referred for Clinical Assessment
TLDR
Investigation of the association between pedophilia and childhood head injuries showed that self-reported head injuries before age 13 were associated with attentional problems and with left-handedness; in contrast, head injuries after age 13were associated with drug abuse and promiscuity.
IQ, Handedness, and Pedophilia in Adult Male Patients Stratified by Referral Source
TLDR
The results showed that the relations between pedophilia and lower IQ, lesser education, and increased rates of non-right-handedness were the same in homogeneous groups referred by lawyers or parole and probation officers as they were in a heterogeneous group referred by a miscellany of other sources, supporting the conclusion that the relation between Pedophilia and cognitive function is genuine and not artifactual.
Pedophilia and Brain Function
Pedophilia is defined as a sexual deviation in which an individual becomes sexually attracted to a prepubescent child. With high prevalence rates and growing public concern, there has been a need to
Review of Medical Reports on Pedophilia
TLDR
The present report is a review of all 554 papers published on Medline on pedophilia, focusing on the characterization of pedophiles with emphasis on their frequent previous sexual abuse, their past, their present, and their anticipated future.
Pedophilia and brain function
Pedophilia is defined as a sexual deviation in which an adult is sexually attracted to a prepubescent child. With relatively high prevalence rates and growing public concern over this issue, there
Pedophilia, Hebephilia, and the DSM-V
TLDR
It is indicated that hebephilia exists as a discriminable erotic age-preference by examining the agreement between self-reported sexual interests and objectively recorded penile responses in the laboratory.
Handedness in Pedophilia and Hebephilia
TLDR
The results indicate that the rates of non-right-handedness in pedophilia are much larger than previously suggested and are comparable to the rates observed in pervasive developmental disorders, such as autism, suggesting a neurological component to the development of pedophilia and hebephilia.
Minor Physical Anomalies as a Window into the Prenatal Origins of Pedophilia
TLDR
Associations emerged between MPA indices and indicators of pedophilia, including penile responses to depictions of children, number of child victims, and possession of child pornography, and greater sexual attraction to children was associated with an elevated craniofacial-to-peripheral anomalies ratio.
The Neurobiology and Psychology of Pedophilia: Recent Advances and Challenges
TLDR
This approach aims to address one of the most significant questions of how pedophilia may be explained by neurobiological and developmental alterations and to provide an update and overview but also a framework for future research.

A prospective study of children with head injuries: III. Psychiatric sequelae.
TLDR
It was concluded that head injuries resulting in a post-traumatic amnesia PTA of less than I week did not appreciably increase the psychiatric risk, and there was a marked increase in psychiatric disorders following severe head injury.
Phallometric diagnosis of pedophilia.
TLDR
The sensitivity of the phallometric test for pedophilia or hebephilia in complete nonadmitters is probably greater than or equal to 55% but is certainly less than 100%.
Sensitivity and specificity of the phallometric test for pedophilia in nonadmitting sex offenders.
TLDR
Results for offenders against women showed that those who had had sexual contact with the greatest number of women (consenting or nonconsenting) had the lowest probability of being diagnosed as pedophilic.

TLDR
Data analysis revealed that males were 1.5 times more likely to sustain closed head injury than females and both sexes showed the highest incidence of CHI during the first year with a second less dramatic peak at around 6 years of age.
Cerebral Damage and Dysfunction in Sexually Aggressive Men
TLDR
This study was a replication and refinement of an earlier report published by the authors and provides additional support for the hypothesis that some types of sexual anomalies are associated with subtle forms of brain damage.
Infant resuscitation is associated with an increased risk of left-handedness.
TLDR
The results indicate that specific types of birth stress are strongly associated with left hand and foot preference; however, much of the left laterality in non-clinical populations remains unexplained.
Premorbid prevalence of ADHD and development of secondary ADHD after closed head injury.
TLDR
There is an excess prevalence of premorbid ADHD among children who present with moderate and severe CHI, and children with high psychosocial adversity are more likely to develop S-ADHD after CHI.
Laterality and prematurity.
TLDR
Lateral preference appears to be unaffected by the side or extent of neonatal brain injury in children without major impairments, as well as in those with normal neonatal scans.
Injuries to children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
TLDR
Injured children with ADHD are more likely to sustain severe injuries than are children without ADHD and more research is needed to identify prevention efforts specifically targeted at this population.
