A patient with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and laboratory evidence of fibrinolysis who could not be treated with aggressive cytostatic regimens because of Aspergillus pneumonia was treated with cis-retinoic acid (RA), a substance that can induce differentiation and maturation of APL cells.
