The aim of this in vitro study was to examine the release of progesterone by porcine ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) after exposure to toxic concentrations of deoxynivalenol (DON), resveratrol (RSV), and their combination (DON with RSV). Ovarian granulosa cells were incubated without (control) or with treatments of natural substances at various doses for 24 h: RSV (10, 30 and 50 μg/mL) / DON (2000, 3000 and 5000 ng/mL), and their combination (10 μg/mL of RSV with 2000 ng/mL of DON; 30 μg/mL of…
The effect of resveratrol on porcine ovarian granulosa cell functions.
TLDR
The results suggest a direct effect of resveratrol on proliferation, apoptosis and steroidogenesis in porcine ovaries and data suggest that resver atrol can affect reproductive (ovarian) functions of pigs.
Assessment of a potential preventive ability of amygdalin in mycotoxin-induced ovarian toxicity
TLDR
The results indicate that the stimulatory effect of amygdalin combined with DON on the progesterone release was clearly caused by the DON addition, not by the presence Amygdalin per se, and suggest a possible involvement of both natural substances into the processes of steroidogenesis and appear to be endocrine modulators of porcine ovaries.
Dietary bioflavonoid quercetin modulates porcine ovarian granulosa cell functions in vitro
TLDR
Results confirm the safety of quercetin in porcine ovarian granulosa cell model and suggest its possible concentration-dependent influence on ovarian functions through pathway that may involve progesterone, cyclin B1 and p53.
Co-administration of amygdalin and deoxynivalenol disrupted regulatory proteins linked to proliferation of porcine ovarian cells in vitro
TLDR
Results of this in vitro study indicate that co-exposure of amygdalin and deoxynivalenol may act to stimulate proliferation-associated peptides in porcine ovarian granulosa cells, and thus alter cell proliferation and normal follicular development.
Low Doses of Resveratrol Protect Human Granulosa Cells from Induced-Oxidative Stress
TLDR
This work may help to clarify the impact of resveratrol on GC and the usefulness of this antioxidant as adjunct to infertility treatments.
Pterostilbene inhibits deoxynivalenol-induced oxidative stress and inflammatory response in bovine mammary epithelial cells.
Ellagitannins--compounds from pomegranate as possible effector in steroidogenesis of rabbit ovaries.
TLDR
The results suggest that punicalagin could have dose-dependent impact on secretion of steroid hormones progesterone and 17beta-estradiol by rabbit ovarian fragments and it may be effector in process of ovarian steroidogenesis.
Animal welfare, etológia és tartástechnológia Animal welfare, ethology and housing systems
TLDR
Results from this study suggest possible effects of amygdalin in combination with mycotoxin-deoxynivalenol on secretion activity of porcine ovarian granulosa cells and possible involvement in the steroidogenesis.
T-2 toxin and its metabolite HT-2 toxin combined with insulin-like growth factor-I modify progesterone secretion by porcine ovarian granulosa cells
TLDR
The results of this in vitro study indicate the T-2 and HT-2 toxins combined with IGF-I could modify progesterone secretion by porcine ovarian granulosa cells and potentially regulate process of steroidogenesis in the ovaries.

The effect of deoxynivalenol on the secretion activity, proliferation and apoptosis of porcine ovarian granulosa cells in vitro
TLDR
The dose-dependent association of DON on porcine ovarian functions is suggested and expression of markers of proliferation (cyclin B1 and PCNA) but not on the expression of marker of apoptosis (caspase-3) in porcines granulosa cells is suggested.

TLDR
In vitro exposure to low trichothecene concentrations upregulates expression both transcriptionally and post-transcriptionally of cytokines, chemokines and inflammatory genes with concurrent immune stimulation, whereas exposure to high concentrations promotes leukocyte apoptosis with concomitant immune suppression.
Effects of resveratrol analogs on steroidogenesis and mitochondrial function in rat Leydig cells in vitro
TLDR
The inhibitory actions of resveratrol analogs on steroidogenesis in Leydig cells indicate novel mechanisms of action of these compounds, which may be of potential therapeutic interest, where suppression of androgen action is needed.
