Abstract Lymph from tracheal and thoracic ducts was collected from 7 Theileria parva -infected calves at various stages of East Coast fever (ECF) and from 2 normal calves. There was no apparent alteration of cell density in either duct attributable to ECF. Computer image analysis of smears of lymph revealed an increase in the number of large lymphocytes from 5 to 15 per cent, in controls and from 20 to 70 per cent, in calves killed 10 days after inoculation: this was attributed to the presence… CONTINUE READING
