This master thesis compares cooperative MIMO relaying (CMIMOR) with a traditional one hop beamforming in a multi cell environment in terms of downlink capacity by means of simulation. One user and a group of relays form a Virtual Antenna Array (VAA), by letting the relays amplify and forward the information that is necessary for a MIMO link to be established between a macro base station and the VAA.
