We study the resonant x-ray scattering at Si and Al K-edges from chiral materials, $\alpha$-quartz and $\alpha$-berlinite. We derive the general form of the scattering matrix for the dipole transition by summing up the local scattering matrices which satisfy the symmetry requirement. The oscillation term is obtained in the spectral intensity as a function of azimuthal angle with an expression of possible phase shift. We evaluate the parameters undetermined by the symmetry argument alone on the…

Resonant x-ray scattering from chiral materials: α-quartz, α-berlinite, and tellurium
We study the resonant x-ray scattering (RXS) at Si K, Al K and Te Ll-edges from chiral materials, ?-quartz, ?-berlinite, and tellurium. For the forbidden reflections (001) and (00), we deduce the
Structural chirality of β -Mn
A theoretical study of Bragg diffraction by an enantiomorphic pair of structures should apply to patterns gathered on \ensuremath{\beta}-Mn using resonance-enhanced x-ray diffraction. The chiral
Observation of quadrupole helix chirality and its domain structure in DyFe3(BO3)4.
TLDR
Evidence is provided for a helix chiral motif of quadrupole moments developed in crystallographic helIX chirality in DyFe3(BO3)4, which shows a reversible phase transition into an enantiomorphic space-group pair.
Emergent chirality in the electric polarization texture of titanate superlattices
TLDR
Using resonant soft X-ray diffraction, the observation of a strong circular dichroism from the interaction between circularly polarized light and the chiral electric polarization texture that emerges in PbTiO 3/SrTiO3 superlattices is reported.
Interlocked chiral/polar domain walls and large optical rotation in Ni3TeO6
Chirality, i.e., handedness, pervades much of modern science from elementary particles, DNA-based biology to molecular chemistry; however, most of the chirality-relevant materials have been based on

Determination of absolute chirality using resonant X-ray diffraction
We have demonstrated that resonant diffraction experiments using the circularly polarized X-ray beam absolutely determines the crystal chirality. Both berlinite and quartz crystals belonging to space
Forbidden reflections due to anisotropic X-ray susceptibility of crystals
Methods have been developed for predicting the properties of the new type of structurally forbidden reflections arising from anisotropic X-ray susceptibility of crystals. The general symmetry
Parity and Time-Reversal Breaking Effects on Resonant X-ray Scattering at the Fe Pre-K-Edge in Magnetite(Condensed matter: electronic structure and electrical, magnetic, and optical properties)
We study noncentrosymmetric effects on resonant x-ray scattering (RXS) in magnetite. The noncentrosymmetry at A sites in spinel structure makes the 4 p states strongly hybridize with the 3 d states
Polarization anisotropy of X-ray atomic factors and 'forbidden' resonant reflections.
TLDR
Symmetry and physical aspects of 'forbidden' reflections excited by a local polarization anisotropy of the X-ray susceptibility are surveyed and the local ;chirality' of atoms in centrosymmetric crystals is accessible.
Resonant diffraction of circularly polarized x-rays by a chiral crystal (low quartz).
TLDR
There is a one-to-one correlation between chirality and helicity when one resonant event is present in diffraction and thus, in this simple case, resonant Bragg diffraction of circularly polarized x-rays is a direct probe of crystal chiralities.
X-ray absorption near-edge structure calculations with the pseudopotentials: Application to the K edge in diamond and α-quartz
We present a reciprocal-space pseudopotential scheme for calculating x-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectra. The scheme incorporates a recursive method to compute absorption cross
X-RAY DICHROISM AND POLARIZED ANOMALOUS SCATTERING OF THE URANYL ION
Dichroism is observed near the L1 and L3 edges of uranium in X-ray absorption spectra of single-crystal rubidium uranyl nitrate, Rb.UO2.3NO3, recorded with linearly polarized synchrotron radiation.
Directional Dichroism of X-Ray Absorption in a Polar Ferrimagnet GaFeO_3
We study the directional dichroic absorption spectra in the x-ray region in a polar ferrimagnet GaFeO_3. The directional dichroism on the absorption spectra at the Fe pre-K-edge arises from the E1-E2

Resonant x-ray diffraction near the iron K edge in hematite ( alpha -Fe2O3).
TLDR
The erect is explained to result from electronic quadrupole transitions in the anomalous scattering from iron and demonstrates that diffraction can be a sensitive probe of the electronic environment at specific atomic sites in the crystal.
