This study examines the hardiness dimensions of commitment, challenge, and control as resilience factors in adaptation among persons with symptomatic HIV disease and AIDS. Two hundred participants completed self-report questionnaires measuring hardiness, psychological distress, quality of life, and core personal beliefs.
