We assessed the attitudes of residents and program directors (PD) toward research training in Canadian anesthesiology residency programs. Questionnaires were sent to all 476 anesthesiology residents in Canada and a modified questionnaire was sent to the PD of each of the 16 anesthesiology programs between November 2003 and April 2004. There was a 60% response rate to the resident questionnaire and 95% from the PDs. Eighty-one percent of programs have mandatory research activity, although only…
Research and Scholarly Activity in US Anesthesiology Residencies: A Survey of Program Directors and Residents
TLDR
This US anesthesiology residency survey assesses the current scholarly environment, research activity and program support during training, and finds that programs are dedicated to incorporate research into their curriculum.
Attitudes Towards Research During Residency Training: a Survey of Canadian Radiation Oncology Residents and Program Directors
TLDR
Canadian Radiation Oncology residents expressed strong enthusiasm to participate in research/scholarly activity, yet lack of protected time and competing demands were identified as major barriers.
Attitudes of Residents and Program Directors Towards Research in Otolaryngology Residency
TLDR
Research is a required component of otolaryngology residency training and program directors may need to implement structured research rotations tailored to individual residents’ research interests and integrate training in research methodology and biostatistics.
Anesthesiology Residents' Experiences and Perspectives of Residency Training.
TLDR
Anesthesiology residents in the United States indicated they most value quality of clinical training experiences and are generally satisfied with their choice of specialty and residency program.
Research During Pediatric Residency Training: Outcome of a Senior Resident Block Rotation
TLDR
A dedicated academic rotation that includes protected time, senior faculty mentorship, and program funding, can lead to productive research accomplishments by pediatric residents.
CanMEDS scholars: A national survey on urology residents' attitudes towards research during training.
TLDR
Canadian urology residents have a high rate of participation in scholarly work, with the vast majority publishing at least one manuscript with a mean of four papers, but there appeared to be significant variation in the respondent's experiences, including protected time for research.

TLDR
This cohort of family practice graduates felt negatively about the teaching of research skills during residency, and providing more support and developing a curriculum may improve resident satisfaction.

TLDR
Faculty and residents showed no significant difference in their residency training in research offerings/requirements; however, current residents showed greater access to more programs offering research.

TLDR
Interest in research during residency is high, but participation in research is low; there are several influences to the types and amounts of research conducted during pediatrics residency.
Factors associated with research interest and activity during family practice residency.
TLDR
Exposure to skilled and knowledgeable faculty researchers may stimulate interest in research, especially early in residency, and dedicated time for research and availability of resource personnel will enhance this activity.
Creating a research culture: what we can learn from residencies that are successful in research.
TLDR
Individual family practice residencies can be considered to be at one of three levels with respect to their level of research activity: 1) relatively undeveloped, 2) developing, or 3) relatively developed.

Obstacles to Residents' Conducting Research and Predictors of Publication
TLDR
Internal medicine residents at one school identified barriers to and predictors of publishing their research, and residents with previous research experience, senior residents, and men were more likely to publish.
