The major function of sonar target is to simulate underwater object at a certain distance. Hence, the main responsibility taken in sonar target system design is to simulate underwater environment. As to unavoidable defects of certain kind of methods at present, this paper offers AT-based (Acoustic Toolbox) channel modeling. This method could improve the performance of sonar target systems.

The state of the art in underwater acoustic telemetry

A primary thesis of this paper is that increased integration of high-fidelity channel models into ongoing underwater telemetry research is needed if the performance envelope of underwater modems is to expand.

The methods and the implementations of underwater acoustic (UWA) communications in the stochastic acoustic multipath propagation channels have been studied, and the systems have been proven to be suitable for the practical applications in real ocean environments.

Echo extraction from bottom reverberation based on chaos

The result of the model in the extraction of object echoes from real lake-bottom reverberation shows that the model can be used to extract object echoes when signal-to-reverberation-ratio is greater than 1dB.

Fading Channels: Information-Theoretic and Communication Aspects

This paper describes the statistical models of fading channels which are frequently used in the analysis and design of communication systems, and focuses on the information theory of fading channel, by emphasizing capacity as the most important performance measure.
