This paper presents an ontology-driven Chinese-English machine translation prototype system. We construct a small ontology called "SCIENTIST", based on which we develop a Chinese-English MT system. We introduce the basic rules and steps we follow to build the ontology and how we use ontology to represent meanings and deal with ambiguation.
