This paper attempts to present an optimal design strategy and characteristics of multipolar inverter-driven induction motor (MIDIM) for workover. The structures of stator lamination and layout of stator windings are analyzed. And how PWM influences the performance of the motor insulation is presented. Moreover, how to calculate air-gap length, eliminate tooth harmonic influence and select the numbers of the stator and rotor slots of MEDIM are discussed.
