The replication of canine distemper virus (CDV) in Vero cells was found to require certain amino acids such as arginine, methionine and valine. The deprivation of methionine caused the most marked reduction in virus yield. In cells cultured in medium deprived of methionine, the early processes of viral replication such as adsorption, penetration and uncoating of virus occurred at normal rates, but the syntheses of viral RNA and protein were markedly reduced. The addition of S-adenosylmethionine…

Inhibition in vitro of the replication of murine cytomegalovirus or reovirus type 3 by the glutamine analogue acivicin
TLDR
The replication of synchronised cultures of Balb/c L-3T3 fibroblasts was shown to require glutamine at a concentration of at least0.12 mM, but the replication of murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) or reovirus type 3 in the cells required at least 0.25 mM glutamine, so other amino acid analogues as possible broad-spectrum antiviral agents are offered encouragement.
Characterization of Canine Distemper Viruses Adapted to Human Neural Cells
TLDR
The results suggest that viral genomic changes occurred during adaptation, resulting in the alteration of viral envelope proteins, which are similar to those of the original virus.
Antiviral effect of 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine, antagonist of gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, on replication of human parainfluenza virus type 2.
TLDR
The antiviral effects of 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine (L-DON) on the replication of human parainfluenza virus type 2, mumps and vesicular stomatitis viruses were studied and it was shown that secondary transcription of virus RNA was also inhibited.
Using s-adenosylmethionine as a medium for viral infections by retroviruses
In in vitro tests in lymphocyte cultures, S-adenosyl-L-methionine, stabilised as tosylate bisulphate, is effective against AIDS viruses with a half-concentration in the range of 100 to 200 mu g/ml.
Characterization of monoclonal antibodies against four structural proteins of rinderpest virus.
TLDR
Twenty-four monoclonal antibodies against rinderpest virus (RPV) were established and characterized by several serological tests, finding that MAbs against the H protein neutralized the infectivity of the virus, but those against the F protein were only neutralizing in the presence of guinea-pig complement.
Protective effects of monoclonal antibodies against lethal canine distemper virus infection in mice.
TLDR
Results suggest that neutralization by antibodies against H and cell fusion inhibition by antibody against F play important roles in the protective mechanism against CDV infection.
Viral Vaccine Production in Cell Culture
TLDR
This article covers the mechanics of virus production, followed by a discussion of the steps in virus replication, process affectors of virus cultivation, and a series of examples of virus vaccine processes.

Amino Acids Requirements for Reproduction of Arboviruses 1
TLDR
It can be postulated therefore that the amino acid deprivation (L-glutamine in the case of CHIK virus) is possibly involved at certain stages for the assembly of viral structures to produce complete virions.
Requirement of arginine for the replication of Marek's disease herpes virus.
TLDR
Omission of arginine from the culture medium did not affect virus adsorption, penetration, or the synthesis of virus DNA but did prevent the formation of virus structural protein which was detectable using immunofluorescent antibody techniques.
Requirement of arginine for the replication of herpes virus.

    The Journal of general virology

TLDR
Undialysed calf serum could not be substituted successfully for arginine in herpes virus replication, although it supported cell growth and the replication of vaccinia and coxsackie B3 viruses.
Effects of l-Glutamine Deprivation on Growth of HVJ (Sendai Virus) in BHK Cells
TLDR
Synthesis of envelope protein in BHK-HVJ cells was markedly suppressed by deprivation of l-glutamine, whereas development of nucleocapsid (S) antigen was less affected, and infectious virus and envelope protein could be detected.
Amino Acid Requirements for the Growth of Aedes albopictus Clone C6/36 Cells and for the Production of Dengue and Chikungunya Viruses in the Infected Cells
TLDR
Cell growth was markedly inhibited when cystine was omitted from the medium, and to a lesser extent by arginine deprivation, and production of dengue and Chikungunya viruses was not affected when alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, and glutamic acid were omitted fromThe medium at the same time.
