Pr. G. David founded the first CECOS at the University Hospital of Paris Bic6tre in 1973. Since 1980, 20 CECOS (Centers for.Cryopreservation of Eggs and Sperm) have operated according to the same guidelines and ethical principles. Ninety-five percent of inseminations with donor semen (AID) are currently managed by the CECOS network in France. Only two private Sperm Banks (FRH in Paris and IFRARES in Toulouse) are allowed by the French Ministry of Health.
