Temporal changes in the reproductive capacity of the pine shoot beetle, Tomicus piniperda L., were studied under laboratory and outdoor conditions in central France. Pairs were placed on Scots pine logs (Pinus sylvestris L.), and reemergent females were systematically re-established on new logs, without maIes, until they had all died.
