The caridean shrimp Rimicaris exoculata, Chorocaris chacei and Mirocaris fortunata, together with bathymodiolid mussels, dominate the vent fauna along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Vent shrimp show the characteristic reproductive patterns of caridean decapods.
