Sequences from the clones of full-length enriched cDNA libraries serve as valuable resources for functional genomic studies. We have analysed 1970 high-quality chromatograms (Phred value >or= 30) that were obtained from sequencing the 5' ends of brainstem, liver, neocortex and spleen clones derived from full-length enriched cDNA libraries from Korean native pigs. In addition, 50,000 pig expressed sequence tag (EST) sequence trace files were obtained from Genbank and combined with our sequencing…

Identification of 1,531 cSNPs from Full-length Enriched cDNA Libraries of the Korean Native Pig Using in Silico Analysis
TLDR
A large-scale sequencing result of clones from full-length enriched cDNA libraries and identified cSNPs will serve as a useful resource to functional genomics related projects such as a pig HapMap project in the near future.
Localization of 31 porcine transcripts to the pig genome by SSRH radiation hybrid mapping
TLDR
The general syntenic structures of chromosomes were conserved among cattle, humans and pigs except for the presence of additional chromosomal breakages in humans and bovine due to an increase in chromosome numbers.
Simple and comprehensive SLA-DQB1 genotyping using genomic PCR and direct sequencing.
TLDR
A simple and effective SLA-DQB1 GSBT method by combining simple genomic DNA PCR and direct sequencing is developed, which may aid in the study of SLA diversity and disease resistance and susceptibility.
Systematic analysis of swine leukocyte antigen-DRB1 nucleotide polymorphisms using genomic DNA-based high-resolution genotyping and identification of new alleles.
TLDR
The results showed the presence of extreme nucleotide variations within introns 1 and 2 of SLA-DRB-related genes including substitutions and deletions, and a comprehensive genotyping method was developed by genomic polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and subsequent direct sequencing.

Discovery of cSNPs in pig using full-length enriched cDNA libraries of the Korean native pig as a source of genetic diversity
TLDR
This study shows that large-scale EST sequencing of Korean native pigs can be effectively employed for natural polymorphism-based pig genome analysis and finds a valine deletion in the Korean native pig.
Generation and analysis of large-scale expressed sequence tags (ESTs) from a full-length enriched cDNA library of porcine backfat tissue
TLDR
The sequence data generated in this study will provide valuable information for studying expression profiles using EST-based microarrays and assist in the condensation of current pig TCs into clusters representing longer stretches of cDNA sequences.
PEDE (Pig EST Data Explorer): construction of a database for ESTs derived from porcine full-length cDNA libraries
TLDR
The PEDE (Pig EST Data Explorer), generated using sequences assembled from porcine 5' ESTs from oligo-capped full-length cDNA libraries, can accelerate analyses of livestock traits and yields information that can lead to new applications in pigs as model systems for medical research.
Prospecting for pig single nucleotide polymorphisms in the human genome: have we struck gold?
TLDR
This is the first evidence of conserved gene-to-gene variability in cSNP frequency across species and indicates that site-directed screening of porcine genes that are homologous to c SNP-rich human genes may rapidly advance cSNPs discovery in pigs.
Analysis of a full-length cDNA library constructed from swine olfactory bulb for elucidation of expressed genes and their transcription initiation sites.
TLDR
In the present study, a "full-length" cDNA library was constructed from the main and accessory olfactory bulbs of 5-week-old male pigs, in order to elucidate the expressed genes.
PEDE (Pig EST Data Explorer) has been expanded into Pig Expression Data Explorer, including 10 147 porcine full-length cDNA sequences
TLDR
The porcine expressed sequence tag (EST) database Pig EST Data Explorer, which comprised 68 076 high-quality ESTs obtained by using full-length-enriched cDNA libraries derived from seven tissues, has evolved into what is now called ‘Pig Expression Data Explorer’.
Abundantly expressed genes in pig adipose tissue: an expressed sequence tag approach.
TLDR
Full-length sequence data and tissue distribution data can be used to decipher the functional roles exhibited by the adipocyte under various perturbations via endocrine, environmental, genetic, nutritional, pharmacological, or physiological manipulations.
Establishment of a pipeline to analyse non-synonymous SNPs in Bos taurus
TLDR
Examination of bovine expressed sequences for non-synonymous SNPs and validated and tested selected SNPs for their association with measured traits found 29% were polymorphic and common with a minor allele frequency >10% and 99% have not been previously reported.
SNP mining porcine ESTs with MAVIANT, a novel tool for SNP evaluation and annotation
TLDR
This study provides a web-based DNA chromatogram and contig browser that facilitates the evaluation and selection of candidate SNPs, which can be applied as genetic markers for genome wide genetic studies.
Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) discovery in porcine expressed genes.
TLDR
These data were the first large-scale assessment of frequency and distribution of porcine SNPs, and strategies for optimizing LSA-based SNP discovery using alternative methods of PCR primer design, data analysis, and germplasm selection that are applicable to other populations and species are described.
