The essential oil extracts of six Malaysian plants, i.e. Curcuma longa, Zingiber officinale, Pandanus odorus, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Syzygium aromaticum and Cymbopogon citratus, were evaluated for repellent activity against Periplaneta americana using a modification of the “two-cylinders” method. Dose-dependent repellency ranging from 57.1 to 100% was exhibited by all six extracts at the lowest concentration tested (12 ppm).RésuméLes extraits d’huiles essentielles de six plantes de Malaisie…
Evaluation of repellent activity of two essential oils and their mixed formulation against cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattidae, Blattellidae) in Iran
The results showed that mixture of two essential oils has good potential for being used as a cockroach repellent and further improvements in efficacy and residual activity may be obtained with more appropriate treatments.
Evaluation of Repellency of Some Chinese Medicinal Herbs Essential Oils Against Liposcelis bostrychophila (Psocoptera: Liposcelidae) and Tribolium castaneum (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)
ABSTRACT The screening for repellency against the booklouse, Liposcelis bostrychophila (Badonnel), and the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), from 14 Chinese medicinal herbs showed
Evaluation of Vetiver Oil and Seven Insect-Active Essential Oils Against the Formosan Subterranean Termite
Vetiver oil is a promising novel termiticide with reduced environmental impact for use against subterranean termites and chemical volatility were inversely associated.
Study of Repellent Activity of Different Plant Powders against Cockroach (Periplanata americana)
Insects are a problem in stored grain throughout the world because they reduce the quantity and quality of grain. The present investigation was aimed to assess the impact of indigenous plants for
Repellent Activities of Ocimum basilicum, Azadirachta indica and Eucalyptus citriodora Extracts on Rabbit Skin against Aedes aegypti
Sweet basil and Lemon Eucalyptus oils can be alternative to Pyrethrum as natural mosquito repellent from plant origin and Neem oil and Ballet did not provide complete protection.
Repellency and fumigant toxicity of clove and sesame oils against American cockroach (Periplaneta americana (L.)
Both clove and sesame oils can be used as repellent botanical insecticides, but only clove oil can be use as fumigant agent against P. americana because sesame oil gave no effect at tested concentrations.
Evaluation of Some Plant Essential Oils against the Brown-Banded Cockroach, Supella longipalpa (Blattaria: Ectobiidae): A Mechanical Vector of Human Pathogens
All five essential oils could be used as the safe compounds for surface treating or fumigation in cockroach control programs while rosmary and oregano oils exhibited the most toxicity.
Cymbopogon citratus (DC.) Stapf : chemical composition and biological activities
Cymbopogon citratus (DC.) Stapf is a perennial grass that grows spontaneously around the world, mainly in the tropical and savannah regions. Infusions of its leaves are used in traditional medicine
Bioefficacy of Zingiber officinale against Prostephanus truncatus Horn (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) infesting maize.
Maize is an important cereal crop grown in sub-Saharan Africa however, greater part of the grains produced is destroyed in storage by Prostephanus truncatus Horn (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae), which is significantly reduced when treated with Powder and oil extract of Z. officinale compared to the untreated grains.

Repellency of essential oils and their components to the human body louse, Pediculus humanus humanus
Five essential oils and nine of their components were compared to diethyl toluamide (DEET) for their repellent activity against the human body louse, Pediculus humanus humanus and it was found that the most effective repellents were DEET and citronella, whose activity lasted at least 29 days.
Reproduction retardant and fumigant properties in essential oils against rice weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in stored wheat
Thirty-one naturally occurring essential oils of plant origin (1,000 ppm in acetone) were studied under laboratory conditions for reproduction retardant, fumigant toxicity, and grain protection
Screening of substances for their effect on Varroa jacobsoni: attractiveness, repellency, toxicity and masking effects of ethereal oils
Oil of clove and oil of cinnamon proved to be the only ones with a clear attractant effect on the mites and the most pronounced repellent effect was caused by oil of citronella, which was clearly capable of masking odours.
New Techniques for Screening Cockroach Repellents
R-874 appears superior to R-11 as a cockroach repellent and N (2-Ethylhexyl) bicyclo-2,2,1-hept-5-ene-2-3-dicarboxa-mide (MGK-264) is synergistic with R- 11, although highly effective, R-55 is more toxic and has more odor.
