The essential oil extracts of six Malaysian plants, i.e. Curcuma longa, Zingiber officinale, Pandanus odorus, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Syzygium aromaticum and Cymbopogon citratus, were evaluated for repellent activity against Periplaneta americana using a modification of the “two-cylinders” method.
