}The repeatability of gait variables is an important consideration in the clinical use of results of quantitative gait analysis. Statistical measures were used to evaluate repeatability of kinematic, kinetic, and electromyographic data waveforms and spatiotemporal parameters of 40 normal subjects. Subjects were evaluated three times on each test day and on three different test days while walking at their preferred or natural speed. Intrasubject repeatability was excellent for kinematic data in…

An analysis of back kinematics in the horse can provide highly repeatable data, warranting clinical use, and small differences were found in range of motion values between the 2 laboratories.

The results showed that the kinetic measures were more reproducible than the kinematic measures, especially for abduction‐adduction and internal‐external rotation.
Effect of compensation procedures for velocity on repeatability and variability of gait parameters in normal subjects
- MedicineClinical rehabilitation
- 2006
The findings suggest that low repeatability in gait parameters should be considered even when the gait of normal subjects is measured on different days, and a high repeatability and more acceptable variability were obtained when the data were compensated for velocity.

- 2009
It was found that the day-to-day consistency of kinematic variables collected during barefoot walking and running was of the magnitude of 3 to 4 degrees for almost all ranges of motion independently of the test condition, the investigated joints, or the cardinal body plane.

Results show that surface electrode data represent a more consistent measure of activity of superficial muscles, if comparisons are to be made between gait data from different test days, and were better for surface electrodes than wire electrodes, irrespective of the smoothing window.

It was concluded that the reduction of intersubject variability by appropriate amplitude normalization is possible, thereby increasing the sensitivity of surface EMG as a diagnostic tool in gait analysis.
