We present a proof that the quantum Yang–Mills theory can be consistently defined as a renormalized, perturbative quantum field theory on an arbitrary globally hyperbolic curved, Lorentzian spacetime. To this end, we construct the non-commutative algebra of observables, in the sense of formal power series, as well as a space of corresponding quantum states. The algebra contains all gauge invariant, renormalized, interacting quantum field operators (polynomials in the field strength and its…

Superconformal quantum field theory in curved spacetime

By conformally coupling vector and hyper multiplets in Minkowski space, we obtain a class of field theories with extended rigid conformal supersymmetry on any Lorentzian 4-manifold admitting twistor

Algebraic Quantum Field Theory on Curved Spacetimes

In this chapter, we review all background material on algebraic quantum field theory on curved spacetimes which is necessary for understanding the cosmological applications discussed in the next

Effective quantum gravity observables and locally covariant QFT

Perturbative algebraic quantum field theory (pAQFT) is a mathematically rigorous framework that allows to construct models of quantum field theories on a general class of Lorentzian manifolds.

Linear bosonic and fermionic quantum gauge theories on curved spacetimes

We develop a general setting for the quantization of linear bosonic and fermionic field theories subject to local gauge invariance and show how standard examples such as linearised Yang-Mills theory

Quantum BRST charge in gauge theories in curved space-time

Renormalized gauge-invariant observables in gauge theories form an algebra which is obtained as the cohomology of the derivation $[\textbf{Q}_L, -]$ with $\textbf{Q}_L$ the renormalized interacting

On Wick Polynomials of Boson Fields in Locally Covariant Algebraic QFT

This work presents some results about Wick polynomials of a vector field renormalization in locally covariant algebraic quantum field theory in curved spacetime. General vector fields are pictured as

Dynamical Locality of the Free Scalar Field

Dynamical locality is a condition on a locally covariant physical theory, asserting that kinematic and dynamical notions of local physics agree. This condition was introduced in arXiv:1106.4785,

Quantum field theory via vertex algebras

We investigate an alternative formulation of quantum field theory that elevates the Wilson- Zimmermann operator product expansion (OPE) to an axiom of the theory. We observe that the information

On the Backreaction of Scalar and Spinor Quantum Fields in Curved Spacetimes - From the Basic Foundations to Cosmological Applications

First, the present work is concerned with generalising constructions and results in quantum field theory on curved spacetimes from the well-known case of the Klein-Gordon field to Dirac fields. To

The State Space of Perturbative Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetimes

Abstract. The space of continuous states of perturbative interacting quantum field theories in globally hyperbolic curved spacetimes is determined. Following Brunetti and Fredenhagen, we first define

The Operator Product Expansion for Perturbative Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime

We present an algorithm for constructing the Wilson operator product expansion (OPE) for perturbative interacting quantum field theory in general Lorentzian curved spacetimes, to arbitrary orders in

On the Renormalization Group in Curved Spacetime

Abstract: We define the renormalization group flow for a renormalizable interacting quantum field in curved spacetime via its behavior under scaling of the spacetime metric, g→λ2g. We consider

Abstract: We showed in Part I that the Hopf algebra ℋ of Feynman graphs in a given QFT is the algebra of coordinates on a complex infinite dimensional Lie group G and that the renormalized theory is

Local Covariant Operator Formalism of Non-Abelian Gauge Theories and Quark Confinement Problem

A manifestly covariant and local canonical operator formalism of non-Abelian gauge theories is presented in its full detail. This formalism, applicable to Yang-Mills theories as well as to gravity,

Conservation of the Stress Tensor in Perturbative Interacting Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetimes

We propose additional conditions (beyond those considered in our previous papers) that should be imposed on Wick products and time-ordered products of a free quantum scalar field in curved spacetime.
