Patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection and the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome are often treated with a variety of potentially nephrotoxic drugs. This review summarizes the renal, fluid, and electrolyte complications of drugs used to treat human immunodeficiency virus and associated opportunistic infections.
