Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) messaging plays an important role in cooperative intelligent transportation systems (CITS), which are advanced applications addressing the problems of road transport management. In this regard, the Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM) protocol is standardized in EU for V2V messaging. However, V2V messages work well only when all vehicles have transmitters and work well in short range and no obstacle. To solve the former problem, the existance of the non-ITS road users…

Figures and Tables from this paper

Cooperative awareness using roadside unit networks in mixed traffic
TLDR
This paper extends earlier work to propose a system called Grid Proxy Cooperative Awareness Message to broaden the cooperative awareness message dissemination area by connecting infrastructure using high-speed roadside networks and to minimize delay in message delivery, and to use edge computing.
Wide Transmission of Proxy Cooperative Awareness Messages
TLDR
This study will describe four problems of Proxy CAM and propose Grid Proxy CAM, which builds a network of proxy CAM devices and forwards Proxy CAM packets, andSDN routing, which uses Software Defined Network for route control.
Roadside-Assisted V2V Messaging for Connected Autonomous Vehicle
TLDR
A roadside-assisted V2V messaging scheme in which roadside units construct a database of dynamic information obtained from sensors and transmit data to nearby and remote vehicles is proposed, designed to be technically compatible with 5G mobile edge computing.

Proxy cooperative awareness message: an infrastructure-assisted V2V messaging
TLDR
The results show that Proxy CAM significantly improves the coverage of V2V messaging while the system overhead is limited, and is evaluated in an indoor test and validated in a field test in Tokyo.
Experimentation Towards IPv6 over IEEE 802.11p with ITS Station Architecture
TLDR
This paper investigates the issues regarding IP-communications over DSRC band, and discusses the issues and some potential solutions towards achieving sufficient perfomance of IPv6 communications overDSRC band.
Cooperative Awareness at Low Vehicle Densities: How Parked Cars Can Help See through Buildings
TLDR
This work shows how, for scenarios with few equipped cars, the utilization of parked cars proves crucial to support safety applications and can increase cooperative awareness by over 40% in total when disseminating safety critical events in a realistic scenario.
Integrating Intelligent Transportation Systems Devices using Power Line Communication
TLDR
The evaluation of two initiatives on narrow band PLC, PRIME and G3, which have similar physical layer, and the PRIME privileges the high data rates during favourable conditions and the G3 provides better performance on unfavourable conditions are considered.
Cloud-Based Pedestrian Road-Safety with Situation-Adaptive Energy-Efficient Communication
TLDR
Evaluation of computation and network load shows feasibility of running such road-safety systems on conventional cellular networks and cloud providers and energy efficiency of adaptive multi-mode (AMM) approach built on situation-adaptive beaconing.
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
The term Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) refers to any technology applied to transport and infrastructure to transfer information between systems, and to transport users, for improved safety,
Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communications
A network, such as wired and/or wireless LAN, is configured to have both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connections. The point-to-multipoint connection(s) is used to communicate information
