The rôle of string loop corrections on the existence of de Sitter vacua and the moduli stabilization problem is examined in the framework of type IIB effective models. The fundamental building blocks of the proposed model are a geometric configuration with a minimum of three intersecting D7 brane stacks and an equal number of Kähler moduli, as well as a novel Einstein-Hilbert term associated with higher derivative terms of the 10-dimensional effective action. It was shown in previous works that… Expand

Logarithmic loop corrections, moduli stabilisation and de Sitter vacua in string theory
We study string loop corrections to the gravity kinetic terms in type IIB com- pactifications on Calabi-Yau threefolds or their orbifold limits, in the presence of D 7-branes and orientifold planes.Expand
Perturbative moduli stabilisation in type IIB/F-theory framework
We propose a new mechanism of (geometric) moduli stabilisation in type IIB/F-theory four-dimensional compactifications on Calabi–Yau manifolds, in the presence of 7-branes, that does not rely onExpand
Gaugino Condensates and D-terms from D7-branes
We investigate, at the microscopic level, the compatibility between D-term potentials from world-volume fluxes on D7-branes and non-perturbative superpotentials arising from gaugino condensation on aExpand
De Sitter string vacua from supersymmetric D-terms
We propose a new mechanism for obtaining de Sitter vacua in type-IIB string theory compactified on (orientifolded) Calabi-Yau manifolds similar to those recently studied by Kachru, Kallosh, Linde andExpand
Systematics of string loop corrections in type IIB Calabi-Yau flux compactifications
We study the behaviour of the string loop corrections to the N = 1 4D supergravity Kahler potential that occur in flux compactifications of IIB string theory on general Calabi-Yau three-folds. WeExpand
D-instantons, strings and M-theory
Abstract The R 4 terms in the effective action for M-theory compactified on a two-torus are motivated by combining one-loop results in type II superstring theories with the Sl (2, Z ) dualityExpand
De Sitter vacua in string theory
We outline the construction of metastable de Sitter vacua of type IIB string theory. Our starting point is highly warped IIB compactifications with nontrivial NS and RR three-form fluxes. ByExpand
Understanding KKLT from a 10d perspective

Brane/Flux Annihilation and the String Dual of a Non-Supersymmetric Field Theory
We consider the dynamics of p anti-D3 branes inside the Klebanov-Strassler geometry, the deformed conifold with M units of RR 3-form flux around the S3. We find that for p << M the system relaxes toExpand
Nonrenormalization of flux superpotentials in string theory
Recent progress in understanding modulus stabilization in string theory relies on the existence of a non-renormalization theorem for the 4D compactifications of Type IIB supergravity which preserve NExpand
