To test the theory of the mechanism by which hypertonic sodium choride solution induces abortion, i.e., that prostaglandins (PGs) are released from damaged decidual cells, the concentration of PGF2alpha was measured in amniotic fluid before and after extraamniotic injection of 20% sodium chloride in 3 women in the 17-27 gestation week.
