Fibronectin, a large adhesive glycoprotein, is a prominent constituent of the extracellular matrix. Abnormalities in fibronectin homeostasis occur in numerous disease states, ranging from primary fibrosing conditions to neoplastic transformation. We demonstrate that fibronectin is a target protein substrate for ubiquitin-dependent degradation.
