An elegant and uniform relaxation-rate formula is presented for the entropic lattice Boltzmann method (ELBM). The formula not only guarantees the discrete time H-theorem at numerical level but also gives full consideration to the consistency with hydrodynamics. With this novel formula, the computational cost of the ELBM is significantly reduced and the method now can be efficiently used for a broad range of hydrodynamics applications including high Renolds number flows. Moreover, we demonstrate…

Revisiting the Lattice Boltzmann Method Through a Nonequilibrium Thermodynamics Perspective
In this paper, we incorporate a nonequilibrium thermodynamics perspective that is consistent with the Onsager reciprocity principle into the lattice Boltzmann framework to propose a novel
Discrete-velocity Boltzmann model: Regularization and linear stability.
A discrete-velocity Boltzmann model for a nine-velocity lattice is considered. Compared to the conventional lattice Boltzmann (LB) schemes the collisions for the model are defined explicitly. Space

Minimal entropic kinetic models for hydrodynamics
We derive minimal discrete models of the Boltzmann equation consistent with equilibrium thermodynamics, and which recover correct hydrodynamics in arbitrary dimensions. A new discrete velocity model
Essentially Entropic Lattice Boltzmann Model.
It is demonstrated that an exact solution for the path length can be obtained by assuming a natural criterion of negative entropy change, thereby reducing the problem to solving an inequality.
Lattice BGK Models for Navier-Stokes Equation
We propose the lattice BGK models, as an alternative to lattice gases or the lattice Boltzmann equation, to obtain an efficient numerical scheme for the simulation of fluid dynamics. With a properly

This work develops an entropic lattice Boltzmann model for Burgers's equation in one spatial dimension and reports the existence of oscillations of bounded amplitude in the vicinity of the shock, where gradient scale lengths become comparable with the grid size.
Ternary Free-Energy Entropic Lattice Boltzmann Model with a High Density Ratio.
A thermodynamically consistent free energy model for fluid flows comprised of one gas and two liquid components is presented and implemented using the entropic lattice Boltzmann scheme, and it is demonstrated that it can capture the bouncing, adhesive, and insertive regimes for the binary collisions between immiscible droplets suspended in air.

We present three-dimensional direct numerical simulations (DNS) of the Kida vortex flow, a prototypical turbulent flow, using a novel high-order lattice Boltzmann (LB) model. Extensive comparisons of
