Mutational falsetto voice is considered to be a psychogenic disorder associated with the rejection of adulthood. The initial treatment must include speech therapy and psychotherapy. However, delayed treatment and denial of the problem can cause the disorder to become recalcitrant to behavioral treatment. Modified relaxation (type III) thyroplasty was proposed by Isshiki to shorten the vocal folds and release tension by incising and depressing the anterior segment of the thyroid cartilage. Type 3 thyroplasty for patients with mutational dysphonia.
TLDR
Type 3 thyroplasty (TP3) is effective for the treatment of patients with mutational dysphonia in whom voice therapy proved unsuccessful, and the voice becomes low-pitched. Expand
Efficacy of Low Mandible Maneuver on Mutational Falsetto
TLDR
The results showed that the LMM is an efficient and rapid technique for treating Mutational falsetto patients and shows high patient compliance. Expand
Type 3 Thyroplasty for a Patient with Female-to-Male Gender Identity Disorder
TLDR
TP3 was performed under local anesthesia in a patient with FTM/GID in whom hormone therapy proved ineffective and with successful conversion to a lower-pitched voice, the patient could begin to live daily life as a male. Expand
Bilateral In-Office Injection Laryngoplasty as an Adjunctive Treatment for Recalcitrant Puberphonia: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.
TLDR
The first report of bilateral in-office injection laryngoplasty with hyaluronic acid with voice therapy to treat a 22-year-old male with puberphonia that had not responded to voice therapy is presented. Expand
Injection Laryngoplasty in Patients With Puberphonia.
TLDR
The authors of this manuscript report the impact of injection laryngoplasty on the average fundamental frequency in three cases of puberphonia. Expand
Puberphonia and Treatments
Puberphonia (Mutational falcetto) is the failure of the high-pitched preadolescence voice to change to the lowpitched adult voice. It is usually considered a condition unique to men, although theExpand
Combined type IIIB with bilateral type I thyroplasty for pitch lowering with maintenance of vocal fold tension
TLDR
This procedure could be performed in patients for whom pitch lowering is desirable, such as female-to-male transsexuals or male patients with mutational falsetto in whom intensive voice therapy was insufficient. Expand
The Use of Vocal Fold Injection Augmentation in a Transmasculine Patient Unsatisfied With Voice Following Testosterone Therapy and Voice Training.
TLDR
The use of injection laryngoplasty in this cohort as an alternative to laryngeal framework surgery is described to present an alternative surgical intervention to supplement testosterone and voice training in transmasculine patients unsatisfied with vocal function. Expand
Efficacy of Doctorvox Voice Therapy Technique for Mutational Falsetto.
TLDR
The DoctorVox Voice Therapy Technique is highly effective in mutational falsetto treatment and at the first session, the patients reach a lower fundamental frequency in the chest register; by the 1 month after treatment, they have a normal pitch at speaking. Expand
Effects of Type 3 Thyroplasty on Voice Quality Outcomes in Puberphonia
TLDR
Thyroplasty provides a suitable management option in those cases who fail to respond by voice therapy and is the mainstay of treatment of puberphonia is voice therapy. Expand

TLDR
It is hypothesized that mutational dysphonia is an habitual dysfunction of the voice with inappropriate activation of the cricothyroid muscle and disuse of laryngeal adductor muscles and Botulinum toxin as an adjunct to voice therapy should be considered before surgical alteration of the glottis in patients with recalcitrant mutational falsetto. TLDR
Experience with 16 patients suffering from adductor spasmodic dysphonia suggests that laryngeal framework surgery is useful in the management of this disorder, and the contributions of Isshiki, LeJeune, and Tucker have demonstrated that tension in the vocal folds can be adjusted by larynx framework surgery.
