The chiral kinetic theory of Weyl fermions with collisions in the presence of weak electric and magnetic fields is derived from quantum field theories. It is found that the side-jump terms in the perturbative solution of Wigner functions play a significant role for the derivation. Moreover, such terms manifest the breaking of Lorentz symmetry for distribution functions. The Lorentz covariance of Wigner functions thus leads to modified Lorentz transformation associated with side-jump phenomena…

Covariant spin kinetic theory I: collisionless limit

We develop a covariant kinetic theory for massive fermions in a curved spacetime and an external electromagnetic field based on quantum field theory. We derive four coupled semi-classical kinetic

Dirac sea and chiral anomaly in the quantum kinetic theory

We revisit the chiral anomaly in the quantum kinetic theory in the Wigner function formalism under the background field approximation. Our results show that the chiral anomaly is actually from the

Relativistic quantum kinetic theory for massive fermions and spin effects

We present the complete first order relativistic quantum kinetic theory with spin for massive fermions derived from the Wigner function formalism in a concise form that shows explicitly how the 32

Photonic quantum kinetic theory in curved spacetime and the spin Hall effect

We formulate the quantum kinetic theory for polarized photons in curved spacetime based on quantum field theory. From this framework, the photonic chiral/zilch vortical effects are reproduced in a

Chiral kinetic theory from effective field theory revisited

A bstractWe revisit the chiral kinetic equation from high density effective theory approach, finding a chiral kinetic equation differs from counterpart derived from field theory in high order terms

Chiral kinetic theory from the on-shell effective field theory: Derivation of collision terms

We show that the on-shell effective theory (OSEFT) is the quantum field theory counterpart of a Foldy-Wouthuysen diagonalization of relativistic quantum mechanics for massless fermions. Thus, it is

Chiral Radiation Transport Theory of Neutrinos

We construct the chiral radiation transport equation for left-handed neutrinos in the context of radiation hydrodynamics for core-collapse supernovae. Based on the chiral kinetic theory incorporating

Side-jump induced spin-orbit interaction of chiral fluids from kinetic theory

We apply the Wigner-function approach and chiral kinetic theory to investigate the angular momentum and polarization of chiral fluids composed of Weyl fermions with background electric/magnetic

Non-Equilibrium Quantum Transport of Chiral Fluids from Kinetic Theory

Quantum kinetic equation in the rotating frame and chiral kinetic theory

A modified quantum kinetic equation which takes account of the noninertial features of rotating frame is proposed. The vector and axial-vector field components of the Wigner function for chiral
