This work extends the still modest number of multiple stars with known relative orbit orientation. Accurate astrometry and radial velocities are used jointly to compute or update outer and inner orbits in three nearby triple systems HIP 101955 (orbital periods 38.68 and 2.51 years), HIP 103987 (19.20 and 1.035 years), HIP 111805 (30.13 and 1.50 years) and in one quadruple system HIP 2643 (periods 70.3, 4.85 and 0.276 years), all composed of solar-type stars. The masses are estimated from the… Expand
Spectroscopic orbits of nearby stars
Aims. We observed stars with variable radial velocities to determine their spectroscopic orbits. Methods. Velocities are presented of 132 targets taken over a time span reaching 30 years. These wereExpand
Speckle Observations and Orbits of Multiple Stars
We report results of speckle-interferometric monitoring of visual hierarchical systems using the newly commissioned instrument NESSI at the 3.5-m WIYN telescope. During one year, 390 measurements ofExpand
Spectroscopic Orbits of Subsystems in Multiple Stars. IV. Double-lined Pairs
Spectroscopic orbits are computed for inner pairs in 9 hierarchical multiple systems (HIP 19639, 60845, 75663, 76816, 78163, 78416, 80448, 84789, and HD 105080) and for one simple binary HIP 61840.Expand
The compact multiple system HIP 41431
The nearby (50 pc) K7V dwarf HIP~41431 (EPIC 212096658) is a compact 3-tier hierarchy. Three K7V stars with similar masses, from 0.61 to 0.63 solar, make a triple-lined spectroscopic system where theExpand
Orbit alignment in triple stars
Statistics of the angle \Phi between orbital angular momenta in hierarchical triple systems with known inner visual or astrometric orbits are studied. Correlation between apparent revolutionExpand
Spectroscopic Orbits of Subsystems in Multiple Stars. III.
Spectroscopic orbits are computed for inner pairs in six nearby hierarchical multiple systems (HIP 35733, 95106/95110, 105441, 105585/105569, 105947, and 109951). Radial velocities and resolvedExpand
The Updated Multiple Star Catalog
The catalog of hierarchical stellar systems with three or more components is an update of the original 1997 version of the MSC. For two thousand hierarchies, the new MSC provides distances,Expand
ν Gem: A Hierarchical Triple System with an Outer Be Star
Time series of spectroscopic, speckle-interferometric, and optical long-baseline-interferometric observations confirm that ν Gem is a hierarchical triple system. It consists of an inner binaryExpand
Dancing twins: stellar hierarchies that formed sequentially?
This paper attracts attention to the class of resolved triple stars with moderate ratios of inner and outer periods (possibly in a mean motion resonance) and nearly circular, mutually aligned orbits.Expand
Spectroscopic study of the extremely young O-type triple system Herschel 36 A in the Hourglass nebula – I. Orbital properties
We present a detailed spectroscopic study of Herschel 36 A (H36A), the main stellar component of the massive multiple system Herschel 36 in the Hourglass Nebula, based on high-resolution opticalExpand

Each of the nearby triple systems HIP 7601, 13498, 23824, and 113597 (HD 10800, 18198, 35877, 217389) consists of solar-type dwarfs with comparable masses, where all three components are resolvedExpand
Relative orientation of orbits in triple stars
Statistical analysis of the relative alignment of inner and outer orbits in triple systems resulting from a dynamical decay of small-N clusters (N 10) is presented and compared to the statistics ofExpand
Orbits, Distance, and Stellar Masses of the Massive Triple Star Sigma Orionis
We present interferometric observations of the sigma Orionis triple system using the CHARA Array, NPOI, and VLTI. Using these measurements, we spatially resolve the orbit of the close spectroscopicExpand
The unusual quadruple system HD 91962 with a "planetary" architecture
The young nearby solar-type star HD 91962 is a rare quadruple system where three companions revolve around the main component with periods of 170.3 days, 8.85 years, and 205 years. The two outerExpand
