The aim of this study was to further define the relationship between cell proliferation and the rate of tooth eruption in the rat incisor. Vinblastine is a drug that blocks cellular mitosis and was used to inhibit cell proliferation in the odontogenic region of rat incisors that were submitted to a shortening treatment or to higher masticatory forces. Male Wistar rats were divided into five groups: normofunctional (control group for incisor eruption), hypofunctional (incisor submitted to…

Evaluation of tooth eruption rate of incisor teeth in rats with estrogen deficiency
- Biology, MedicineClinical Oral Investigations
- 2022
Estrogen deficiency decreases TER in teeth under impeded condition and increases ERβ gene expression in the odontogenic region of teeth with continuous formation, and quantitative real-time PCR was performed.
Adaptive amelogenesis during unimpeded eruption of rat mandibular incisor
- Medicine, Materials ScienceAnatomia, histologia, embryologia

The measured length of the secretion zone is in agreement with the observed thickness of enamel (98 µm) in unimpeded incisors, and the reduced eruption rate and the apical shift of the contralateral incisor are probably due to an increased occlusal load.
Effects of loss of occlusal contact on the expression of matrix metalloproteinase‐2, membrane type 1‐MMP, tissue inhibitor of the MMP‐2, eruption rate, organization and resistance of collagen fibers of the rat incisor periodontal ligament
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of periodontal research
- 2018
It is concluded that, after incisor eruption, occlusal contact may be an important factor for regulating the remodeling and the physiological resistance of the periodontal ligament against the continuous eruption process observed in rat incisors.
4-Hexylresorcinol Administration Increases Dental Hard Tissue Formation and Incisor Eruption Rate in Rats
- Biology, MedicineApplied Sciences

Collectively, 4HR administration increased the expression of markers related to dental hard tissue formation and accelerated the eruption rate of incisors in rats.
Doxycycline reduces the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinase‐2 in the periodontal ligament of the rat incisor without altering the eruption process
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of periodontal research
- 2017
The inhibition of M MP-2 by doxycycline, during incisor shortening, was not enough to alter the eruption rate, which suggests that MMP-2 may have an important role in the turnover of extracellular matrix of the periodontal ligament during the tooth-eruption process.

Histological evidence for a dynamic dental battery in hadrosaurid dinosaurs
- Environmental Science, MedicineScientific Reports
- 2017
The first histological study of an entire hadrosaurid dental battery provides a comprehensive look at tooth movement within this complex structure, underscoring the dynamic nature of one of the most unique and complex dental systems in vertebrate history.

Results indicate that MT1-MMP may have an important role in the process of dental eruption, and was widespread in the dental follicle, in both groups studied (normal and interrupted eruption groups); however a significant decrease in immunostaining was observed in the interrupted eruption group.
