  • Amphisbaenia is a monophyletic group which contains six families. The relations among the species within the group are scarcely known and their nomenclature and taxonomy had been revised recently. In the family Amphisbaenidae there is a putative group of species associated with Amphisbaena darwini which is represented by approximately eight taxa, with unclear relations, occurring from the Northeast region of Brazil throughout Argentina and Uruguay.
