In the blast crisis phase of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), Bcr-Abl(+) myeloblasts fail to undergo terminal maturation. The extracellular signal-regulated kinase (Erk) mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase has been shown to mediate terminal differentiation of myeloid cells.
