Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARalpha) is a nuclear receptor activated by fatty acids, hypolipidemic drugs, and peroxisome proliferators (PPs). Like other nuclear receptors, PPARalpha is a phosphoprotein whose activity is affected by a variety of growth factor signaling cascades.
