Aspartokinase (EC 2.7.2.4), homoserine-dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.3) and dihydrodipicolinic-acid-synthase (EC 4.2.1.52) activities were examined in extracts from 1-year-old and 11-year-old cell suspension cultures and whole roots of garden carrot (Daucus carota L.). Aspartokinase activity from suspension cultures was inhibited 85% by 10 mM L-lysine and 15% by 10mM L-threonine.
