Lymphatics play a vital role in maintaining homeostasis by keeping the tissue free of excess fluid. This function is important in lungs to facilitate gas exchange at the capillary alveolar barrier. Although lymphatic endothelial cells (LEC) arise from blood endothelial cells (BEC) in vivo, the molecular mechanisms of LEC lineage selection are poorly understood.
