Nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) is a transcription factor with important roles in regulating innate immune and inflammatory responses. NF-kappaB is activated through the phosphorylation of its inhibitor, IkappaB, by the IkappaB kinase (IKK) complex.
