1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3 dramatically decreases parathyroid hormone (PTH) gene transcription. We have now studied the effect of 1,25(OH)2D3 on the 1,25(OH)2D receptor (VDR) in the parathyroid in vivo.
