We construct a regular five-dimensional brane-world with localised gravity on a flat 3-brane. The matter content in the bulk is parametrised by an analog of a non-linear fluid with equation of state p = γρλ between the ‘pressure’ p and the ‘density’ ρ dependent on the 5th dimension. For γ negative and λ > 1, the null energy condition is satisfied and the geometry is free of singularities within finite distance from the brane, while the induced four-dimensional Planck mass is finite. ∗antoniad…

### Brane-world asymptotics in a nonlinear fluid bulk

• Mathematics
• 2021
We present recent results on the asymptotics of a brane-world that consists of a flat 3brane embedded in a five-dimensional bulk. The bulk matter is modelled by a fluid that satisfies a nonlinear

### Self-tuning of the cosmological constant in brane-worlds with $P(X,\phi)$

• Physics
• 2022
We revisit the idea of self-tuning the observed cosmological constant to a vanishing value and promote it to a selection criterion of brane-world models, in which our Universe is described by a

We study the problem of evolution of bulk 5-fluids having an embedded braneworld with a flat, de Sitter, or anti-de Sitter geometry. We introduce new variables to express the Einstein equations as a

### Superluminal Geometrodynamics of Braneworld Hyperdrive via Brane-Bulk Interaction

• Physics

The idea of superluminal travel in the framework of General Relativity has firstly been introduced by Miguel Alcubierre. Instead of puncturing through a hole in spacetime as in a wormhole, this

### Regular braneworlds with bulk fluids

We review studies on the singularity structure and asymptotic analysis of a 3-brane (flat or curved) embedded in a five-dimensional bulk filled with a ‘perfect fluid’ with an equation of state p =

All flat brane solutions suffer from a finite-distance singularity contrary to previous claims, and the possibility of avoiding finite- distance singularities by cutting the bulk and gluing regular solutions at the position of the brane is studied.
