Text S1: Site differentiation and pooling details Geographic coordinates were reported for most survey sites (85.0%, 1,667 sites). Reef community structure can vary greatly at relatively small scales (Edmunds & Bruno 1996), so surveys were only considered to be done at the same site if the surveys had identical coordinates.
