We present a deep study of the average hard X-ray spectra of Seyfert galaxies. We aim to test the unified model of active galactic nuclei, and constrain differences and similarities between different classes of objects. We analyzed all public INTEGRAL IBIS/ISGRI data available on all the 165 Seyfert galaxies detected at z < 0.2. Our final sample consists of 44 Seyfert 1s, 29 Seyfert 1.5s, 78 Seyfert 2s, and 14 narrow-line Seyfert 1s. For each subsample, we stacked all the images, and derived…
A comprehensive analysis of the hard X-ray spectra of bright Seyfert galaxies
Hard X-ray spectra of 28 bright Seyfert galaxies observed with INTEGRAL were analysed together with the X-ray spectra from XMM–Newton, Suzaku and RXTE. These broad-band data were fitted with a model
Full Spectral Survey of Active Galactic Nuclei in the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer Archive
We have analyzed spectra for all active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer archive. We present long-term average values of absorption, Fe line equivalent width (EW), Compton
Measuring the level of nuclear activity in Seyfert galaxies and the unification scheme
Context. The unification scheme of Seyfert galaxies hypothesizes that Seyfert type 1s and type 2s are intrinsically similar and the observed differences between the two subtypes are solely due to the
The broad-band spectrum of the narrow-line Seyfert 1 NGC 4748: from UV to hard X-ray
We report the results obtained by a broad-band (0.5–500 keV) data analysis of narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 4748 observed with an XMM-Newton/PN, INTEGRAL/ISGRI and SWIFT/BAT telescopes. This
High-energy emission from NGC 5506, the brightest hard X-ray Narrow Line Seyfert 1 galaxy
We present results on the hard X-ray emission of NGC 5506, the brightest narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxy above 20 keV. All the recent observations by INTEGRAL, Swift and Suzaku have been analysed and
Hard-X-ray spectra of active galactic nuclei in the INTEGRAL complete sample
In this paper, we present the hard X-ray spectral analysis of a complete sample of AGN de- tected by INTEGRAL/IBIS. In conjunction with IBIS spectra, we make use of Swift/BAT data, with the aim of
INVESTIGATING THE CORE MORPHOLOGY-SEYFERT CLASS RELATIONSHIP WITH HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE ARCHIVAL IMAGES OF LOCAL SEYFERT GALAXIES
The unified model of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) has provided a successful explanation for the observed diversity of AGNs in the local universe. However, recent analysis of multi-wavelength
On the Extent of the Existence of Broad Line Region in Seyfert Galaxies
We present statistical results from a very large sample of Seyfert galaxies (217,272 galaxies) obtained from SDSS DR10 (Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 10). From their observed parameters which
Fundamental X-ray corona parameters of Swift/BAT AGN
While X-ray emission from active galactic nuclei (AGN) is common, the detailed physics behind this emission is not well understood. This is in part because high quality broad-band spectra are
Hard X-ray Variability of the Brightest Swift/BAT AGN
Variability is one of the hallmarks of Active Galactic Nuclei. The Burst Alert Telescope onboard of Swift, with its homogeneous coverage of the sky is a formidable tool to study variability at hard

The intrinsic emission of Seyfert galaxies observed with BeppoSAX/PDS - I. Comparison of the average spectra of the three classes of Seyfert galaxies
We present a study of the hard X-ray spectrum (>15 keV) of different classes of Seyfert galaxies observed with BeppoSAX/PDS. Using hard X-ray data, we avoid absorption effects modifying the Seyfert
Investigating the central engine of Seyfert 2 galaxies with and without Polarized Broad Lines
We study the hard X-ray emission of two samples of Seyfert 2 galaxies with and without Polarized Broad Lines (PBL). In the hard X-ray domain, absorption effects do not significantly modify the
The Average X-ray/Gamma-ray Spectra of Seyfert Galaxies from Ginga and OSSE
Abstract : We have obtained the first average 2-500 keV spectra of Seyfert galaxies, using the data from Ginga and GRO OSSE. Our sample contains 3 classes of objects with markedly different spectra:
Seyfert galaxies in the local Universe (z ≤ 0.1) : the average X-ray spectrum as seen by BeppoSAX
The BeppoS AX archive is currently the largest reservoir of high sensitivity simultaneous soft and hard-X ray data of Seyfert galaxies. From this database all the Seyfert galaxies (105 objects of
BeppoSAX Average Spectra of Seyfert Galaxies
We have studied the average 3-200 keV spectra of Seyfert galaxies of type 1 and 2, using data obtained with BeppoSAX. The average Seyfert 1 spectrum is well fitted by a power-law continuum with
X-ray spectral survey with XMM-Newton of a complete sample of nearby Seyfert galaxies
Results obtained from an X-ray spectral survey of nearby Seyfert galaxies using XMM–Newton are reported. The sample was optically selected, well defined, complete in B  magnitude, and distance
Seyfert 2 Galaxies with Spectropolarimetric Observations
We present a compilation of radio, infrared, optical, and hard X-ray (2-10 keV) data for a sample of 90 Seyfert 2 galaxies (Sy2s) with spectropolarimetric observations (41 Sy2s with detection of
The X-ray spectra of optically selected Seyfert 2 galaxies: are there any Seyfert 2 galaxies with no absorption?
We present an X-ray spectral analysis of a sample of 8 bona-fide Seyfert 2 galaxies, selected on the basis of their high $[OIII]\lambda5007$ flux, from the Ho et al. (1997) spectroscopic sample of
The second INTEGRAL AGN catalogue
Aims. The INTEGRAL mission provides a large data set for studying the hard X-ray properties of AGN and allows testing of the unified scheme for AGN. Methods. We present analysis of INTEGRAL
Soft X-ray properties of a spectroscopically selected sample of interacting and isolated Seyfert galaxies
We present a catalogue of ROSAT detected sources in the sample of spectroscopically selected Seyfert 1 and Seyfert 2 galaxies of Rafanelli et al. ([CITE]). The catalogue contains 102 Seyfert 1 and 36
