OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness of a modified Myers' formula of intravenous nutrient therapy (IVNT) on the symptoms of fibromyalgia (FM) in therapy-resistant FM patients. METHODS In this pilot clinical trial, 7 participants with therapy resistant FM were given IVNT once per week for 8 weeks. Patient's pain levels, fatigue, and activities of daily living were evaluated weekly. RESULTS All participants reported decreased pain levels, decreased fatigue, and increased activities of…
Intravenous micronutrient therapy (Myers' Cocktail) for fibromyalgia: a placebo-controlled pilot study.
TLDR
This first controlled pilot study established the safety and feasibility of treating FMS with IVMT, and the efficacy of IVMT for fibromyalgia, relative to placebo, is as yet uncertain.
Beyond pain in fibromyalgia: insights into the symptom of fatigue
TLDR
The ongoing efforts by PROMIS to develop a brief fibromyalgia-specific fatigue measure for use in clinical and research settings will help define fatigue, allow for better assessment, and advance the understanding of fatigue.
Systematic Review of Discriminating Power of Outcome Measures Used in Clinical Trials of Fibromyalgia
TLDR
Each of the key OMERACT domains has an instrument that appears to be sensitive to change, with the exception of HRQOL, which requires further research.
Fibromyalgia: A Review of Its Pathophysiology and Drug Treatment
The objective of this article is to review the literature related to the pathophysiology of fibromyalgia and the drug therapy used to treat this disease. Fibromyalgia, the second most frequently
Vitamin Infusion Therapy
TLDR
It is theorized that the antioxidant, energy metabolism, and neuroprotective properties of vitamins may be beneficial for modulating pain transmission, and further research is needed to better identify and characterize the analgesic effect of vitamin infusions.

The Active Role of Leguminous Plant Components in Type 2 Diabetes
TLDR
The most significant bioactive compounds displaying antidiabetic activity in leguminous plants are as follows: genistein and daidzein, alpha-amylase inhibitors, and alpha-glucosidase inhibitors.

Treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome with Super Malic: a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, crossover pilot study.
TLDR
Super Malic is safe and may be beneficial in the treatment of patients with FM and future placebo-controlled studies should utilize up to 6 tablets of Super Malic bid and continue therapy for at least 2 months.
Effects of T’ai Chi Exercise on Fibromyalgia Symptoms and Health-Related Quality of Life
TLDR
Although the dropout rate was higher than expected, measurements on both the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) and the Short Form-36 (SF-36) revealed statistically significant improvement in symptom management and health-related quality of life.
Vegan diet alleviates fibromyalgia symptoms.
TLDR
It can be concluded that vegan diet had beneficial effects on fibromyalgia symptoms at least in the short run.
Pharmacological therapies in fibromyalgia.
TLDR
This chapter provides a contemporary update of the state of FMS pharmacotherapy, with an emphasis on compounds that have been tested in double-blind, randomized, controlled trials and the efficacy of these therapies on the associated symptoms and co-morbid syndromes commonly seen in FMS patients.
Fibromyalgia syndrome improved using a mostly raw vegetarian diet: An observational study
TLDR
This dietary intervention shows that many fibromyalgia subjects can be helped by a mostly raw vegetarian diet, and is no longer statistically different from norms for women ages 45–54.
Tramadol and acetaminophen combination tablets in the treatment of fibromyalgia pain: a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study.
TLDR
A tramadol/acetaminophen combination tablet was effective for the treatment of fibromyalgia pain without any serious adverse effects.
Rehabilitation approaches in fibromyalgia
TLDR
It appears that a combination of interventions, in a multimodal approach (e.g., exercises combined with education and psychologically-based interventions) is the most promising means of managing patients with FM.
Relief of Fibromyalgia Symptoms following Discontinuation of Dietary Excitotoxins
TLDR
The elimination of MSG and other excitotoxins from the diets of patients with fibromyalgia offers a benign treatment option that has the potential for dramatic results in a subset of patients.

TLDR
The multifaceted nature of FM suggests that multimodal individualized treatment programs may be necessary to achieve optimal outcomes in patients with this syndrome.
Integrative Therapy for Fibromyalgia: Possible Strategies for an Individualized Treatment Program
TLDR
No one therapy is uniformly effective in every patient; treatment programs consisting of a combination of pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic therapies must be individualized to the patient, and the clinician may have to try several different modalities before reaching an optimal improvement in the patient’s symptoms.
