Reduction of Respirable Silica Following the Introduction of Water Spray Applications in Indian Stone Crusher Mills
@article{Gottesfeld2008ReductionOR, title={Reduction of Respirable Silica Following the Introduction of Water Spray Applications in Indian Stone Crusher Mills}, author={Perry Gottesfeld and Mark Nicas and John W Kephart and Kalpana Balakrishnan and Richard Rinehart}, journal={International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health}, year={2008}, volume={14}, pages={103 - 94} }
Abstract Respirable crystalline silica dust generated during stone crushing operations has been linked to chronic lung disease and increased risk of tuberculosis. In India, most stone crushing mills operate without any dust control or containment systems. This nvestigation in the Khurda District of Orissa demonstrated a reduction in respirable particulate mass following the application of a fine mist of water. Average respirable quartz and cristobalite levels declined 82% and 69%, respectively…

Evaluation of Dust Exposure among the Workers in Agricultural Industries in North-East India.
- Environmental Science, MedicineThe Annals of occupational hygiene
- 2015
The results show that majority of the workers are exposed to higher level of respirable dust as compared to the PEL, while total dust exposure to all the workers were higher than the Pel; thus, immediate reduction of dust exposure among the workers is necessary for preventing respiratory system impairment.
Pulmonary Function Test in Stone Crusher Plant Workers
- Medicine
- 2015
It was concluded that due to exposure of silica containing dust it leads to deterioration of pulmonary functions in quarry workers and wet working, suitable ventilation and information about preventive measures can be provided as protection to the workers.
EFFECT OF DURATION OF EXPOSURE TO SILICA DUST ON LUNG FUNCTION IMPAIRMENT IN STONE CRUSHER WORKERS OF MARATHWADA REGION
