Roehm brings up 2 important issues: the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet and the statistical ‘‘manipulation’’ (his term) used to pry out effects of diet on health. With regard to ‘‘manipulation’’, statistical modeling of observational data has its limitations, and it can lead to erroneous conclusions.
