A bstractWe revisit the question of gauge coupling unification at the string scale in orbifold compactifications of the heterotic string for the supersymmetric Standard Model. In the presence of discrete Wilson lines threshold corrections with modular symmetry that is a subgroup of the full modular group arise. We find that reduced modular symmetries not previously reported are possible. We conjecture that the effects of such threshold corrections can be simulated using sums of terms built from…

Natural inflation and moduli stabilization in heterotic orbifolds

A bstractWe study moduli stabilization in combination with inflation in heterotic orbifold compactifications in the light of a large Hubble scale and the favored tensor-to-scalar ratio r ≈ 0.05. To

Aspects Of Phenomenology And Cosmology In Heterotic M-Theory

We present an exploration of models of particle phenomenology and cosmology which arise from the E_8 x E_8 heterotic string theory and its strong-coupled limit, known as heterotic M-theory. We first

Line Bundle Hidden Sectors for Strongly Coupled Heterotic Standard Models

We review the compactification to five‐dimensional heterotic M‐theory on a Schoen Calabi–Yau threefold and the specific SU(4) vector bundle leading to the “heterotic standard model” in the observable

The R-parity violating decays of charginos and neutralinos in the B-L MSSM

The B − L MSSM is the MSSM with three right-handed neutrino chiral multiplets and gauged B − L symmetry. The B − L symmetry is broken by the third family right-handed sneutrino acquiring a VEV, thus

The R-parity violating decays of charginos and neutralinos in the B-L MSSM

R-parity violating decays of Wino chargino and wino neutralino LSPs and NLSPs at the LHC

The R-parity violating decays of both Wino chargino and Wino neutralino LSPs are analyzed within the context of the B − L MSSM “heterotic standard model”. These LSPs correspond to statistically

The minimal SUSY B − L model: simultaneous Wilson lines and string thresholds

In previous work, we presented a statistical scan over the soft supersymmetry breaking parameters of the minimal SUSY B − L model. For specificity of calculation, unification of the gauge parameters

Bayesian naturalness, simplicity, and testability applied to the $B-L$ MSSM GUT using GPU Monte Carlo

The lack of decisive experimental results to settle fundamental questions in physics has led to increasing reliance upon intuitive criteria such as naturalness, simplicity, and testability. We argue

The computation of one-loop heterotic string threshold corrections for general orbifold models with discrete Wilson lines

We calculate the moduli dependent part of string one-loop threshold corrections to gauge couplings for the heterotic string theory compactified on abelian toroidal orbifolds, allowing for arbitrary

Modular Groups for Twisted Narain Models

We demonstrate how to find modular discrete symmetry groups for ZN orbifolds. The Z7 orbifold is treated in detail as a nontrivial example of a (2, 2) orbifold model. We give the generators of the
