The genus level diagnostic characters of Acanthosoma Curtis, 1824, Anaxandra Stål, 1876, and Sastragala Amyot & Serville, 1843 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Acanthosomatidae) are discussed. The synonymy of Acanthosoma and Anaxandra proposed by Kumar (1974) is supported. Acanthosoma and Sastragala are redefined and recognized as valid genera. The identities of various species of Acanthosoma are clarified based on their type materials, their diagnostic characters are discussed and several…

Synopsis of the Acanthosomatidae (Heteroptera) from Argentina

A synopsis of the Argentinean Acanthosomatidae, including a key to genera, new distributional data and host plant records, and complementary information is provided. The tribe Blaudusini is recorded

Maternal care in Acanthosomatinae (Insecta: Heteroptera: Acanthosomatidae)—correlated evolution with morphological change

It is shown that maternal care is an apomorphic trait that has arisen multiple times from the presence of PO within the subfamily Acanthosomatinae, which suggests an evolutionary trade-off between the two traits resulting from physiological costs.

Interspecific variation in life history traits of Elasmostethus (Hemiptera: Acanthosomatidae)

Life history traits, such as clutch size, egg size (weight), developmental periods of eggs, and female body size, were investigated in Japanese species of the genus Elasmostethus Fieber to form a solid basis for future comparative analyses in the family Acanthosomatidae, which contains both subsocial and asocial species.

The genome sequence of the hawthorn shieldbug, Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale (Linnaeus, 1758)

A genome assembly from an individual male Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale (hawthorn shieldbug; Arthropoda; Insecta; Hemiptera;Acanthosomatidae) was presented and the complete mitochondrial genome was also assembled.

The genus Acanthosoma in Taiwan (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Acanthosomatidae)

The Acanthosoma fauna of Taiwan is highly endemic; the zoogeographical affinities of the species are briefly discussed.
