Red cell organic phosphate levels and in vivo oxygen-hemoglobin dissociation in patients on maintenance dialysis with anaemia

Abstract

In a group of 25 patients on maintenance haemodialysis the red cell concentrations of ATP and 2,3-DPG were significantly elevated compared with the concentrations found in normal subjects. Between both organic phosphates and haemoglobin content an inverse correlation was found, which was greater for ATP. The in vivo O2-haemoglobin dissociation curves of… (More)
