Western Palaearctic Ectoedemia (Zimmermannia) Hering and Ectoedemia Busck s. str. (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae): five new species and new data on distribution, hostplants and recognition
The nine western Palaearctic species of the sub genus Zimmermannia Hering, 1940 and 48 species in the subgenus Ectoedemia Busck, 1907 of the genus EctOedemia are reviewed and four species are described as new. Expand
Revised classification and catalogue of global Nepticulidae and Opostegidae (Lepidoptera, Nepticuloidea)
A catalogue of all named Nepticulidae and Opostegidae is presented, including fossil species, and 37 new synonymies for species are proposed, largely due to the new classification, and re-examination of some species. Expand
Challenging limits: Ultrastructure and size‐related functional constraints of the compound eye of Stigmella microtheriella (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae)
Investigation of the optical design of the nepticulid Stigmella microtheriella reveals an optical design with features intermediate between apposition and superposition optics similar to that known from two other small species of moths. Expand
Circular Distribution Pattern of Plant Modulars and Endophagous Herbivory within Tree Crowns: The Impact of Roadside Light Conditions
Investigation within the crowns of four dominant Fagaceae trees in a subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest at Jiulianshan National Nature Reserve, Jiangxi, China confirmed that the roadside light environments had larger impacts on the circular distribution patterns of plant modulars than those of leaf herbivores. Structural and functional changes of insect eyes in cases of miniaturization
The present work revealed that the conclusions reached by Meyer-Rochow and Gal (2004) based on their theoretical approach holds true and adaptations in small eyes are manifest in form of an intermediate eye type, combining features of apposition and superposition optics. Expand

The Quercus feeding Stigmella species of the west Palaearctic: new species, key and distribution (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae)
The Eastern Mediterranean region, with about five endemic species, has a more diverse fauna than the Western part, were only three endemic species occur, and the fauna on evergreen oaks, counting three species, is poor compared to that on deciduous oaks and compared to the genus Ectoedemia. Expand
