ABSTRACT This article will introduce a conceptual framework of kinesthetic education that is consistent with and reinforces pain neuroscience education. This article will also provide some specific guidance for integrating pain neuroscience education with exercise and movement in a more congruent manner. Our belief is that this will enhance the effectiveness of specific movement approaches such as graded exposure techniques. Over the past decade, a new paradigm of pain education has been…

TLDR
An intervention consisting of pain neuroscience education and exercise administered in the school setting is well accepted and considered relevant and appropriate by adolescents with chronic idiopathic neck pain.
Pain neuroscience education plus exercise compared with exercise in university students with chronic idiopathic neck pain
TLDR
This study examined the effects of pain neuroscience education plus exercise plus exercise when compared to no exercise in university students.
The use of pain neuroscience education in older adults with chronic back and/or lower extremity pain.
TLDR
PNE is a feasible and potentially efficacious treatment for older adults with chronic pain and there were statically significant positive improvements in gait speed, pain disability, and fear of movement after the intervention.
The use of pain neuroscience education in older adults with chronic back and/or lower extremity pain
TLDR
PNE is a feasible and potentially efficacious treatment for older adults with chronic pain and there were statically significant positive improvements in gait speed, pain disability, and fear of movement after the intervention.
Defending the art of physical therapy: Expanding inquiry and crafting culture in support of therapeutic alliance
TLDR
Excellence in Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) education must incorporate education addressing the vital importance of therapeutic alliance and also include training in the skills for developing such unique intentional relationships.
The clinical application of pain neuroscience, graded motor imagery, and graded activity with complex regional pain syndrome—A case report
TLDR
This case report showcases the use of GMI with a patient with CRPS type 1 in an outpatient orthopedic clinic and Clinicians may consider the useof GMI to progress a patient toward maximal functional gains.
Defending the art of physical therapy: Expanding inquiry and crafting culture in support of therapeutic alliance.
The successful practice of physical therapy requires a professional culture that places value on the interpersonal relationships that foster healing, and the face time required to build those
Clinicians Applying Yoga Principles and Practices in Pain Care
This chapter provides a practical introduction and guidelines for clinicians and researchers to appreciate the relationship between two enormous topics: pain and yoga. The emphasis is on practicality
Teaching patients about pain: It works, but what should we call it?
TLDR
A systematic review showed that teaching patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain more about pain from a biological and physiological perspective has a positive effect on pain, function, physical movement, and pain catastrophization.

A Randomized Controlled Trial of Intensive Neurophysiology Education in Chronic Low Back Pain
TLDR
The results suggest that pain neurophysiology education, but not back school type education, should be included in a wider pain management approach.
Pain neurophysiology education improves cognitions, pain thresholds, and movement performance in people with chronic whiplash: a pilot study.
TLDR
It is suggested that education about the physiology of pain is able to increase pain thresholds and improve pain behavior and pain-free movement performance in patients with chronic WAD.
Activity Pacing in Chronic Pain: Concepts, Evidence, and Future Directions
TLDR
This work reviews the current knowledge concerning AP and integrates this knowledge in a manner that allows for a clear definition and useful directions for future research, and provides a provisional definition of AP.
Joining Forces – Combining Cognition-Targeted Motor Control Training with Group or Individual Pain Physiology Education: A Successful Treatment For Chronic Low Back Pain
TLDR
Combining a motor control training approach with individualised education about pain physiology is effective in this group of patients and may be more cost-efficient than group education, which imparts a lesser effect.
Pain Physiology Education Improves Health Status and Endogenous Pain Inhibition in Fibromyalgia: A Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial
TLDR
These results suggest that FM patients are able to understand and remember the complex material about pain physiology and seems to be a useful component in the treatment of FM patients as it improves health status and endogenous pain inhibition in the long term.
