BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE It is estimated that one third of the institutes applying clinical beta sources does not perform independent dosimetry. The Netherlands commission on radiation dosimetry (NCS) recently published recommended quality control procedures and detectors for the dosimetry of beta sources.
