The taxonomic status of saltwater Bdellovibrio-like prokaryotic predators has been revised to assign species to Halobacteriovorax gen. nov. A reclassification of Bacteriovorax marinus as Halobacteriovorax marinus comb. nov. (type strain ATCC BAA-682(T) = DSM 15412(T)) and Bacteriovorax litoralis as Halobacteriovorax litoralis comb. nov.
