Mammalian RYK is a receptor related to tyrosine kinase without detectable catalytic activity. We have previously reported that rat RYK is dominantly expressed in neural progenitor cells and mature neurons in the developing central nervous system. Mouse RYK has been found to bind to EphB2/B3 receptors, which have diverse functions during development.
